CHILDREN’S RIGHT AND GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP IN DEPARTMENTS OF EDUCATION

The purpose of the research is to incorporate the rights approach into the early training of education professionals of the Departments of Education of Catalan universities. The aim of the project is to implement “Children’s rights and global citizenship in Departments of Education: instructional proposal for degrees in education” in order to evaluate its design, implementation and results. This action will enable the development of proposals for improving the document as well as facilitate progress in the dissemination of children’s rights and global citizenship in the teacher preparation programmes for education professionals. The University of Lleida has been collaborating with the UNICEF Spanish Committee since 2010 in an effort to introduce children’s rights and its pedagogical model into the field of education. Since 2010, several agreements have been funded jointly by the UNICEF Foundation Spanish Committee and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (AECID), which the newly founded Chair will adopt as part of its agenda. The first agreement is to identify the educational needs of the teaching community with regard to children’s rights, in order to develop a self-assessment guide for schools. The second agreement is to undertake a research assessment of how the self-assessment guide is implemented in classrooms. The third agreement is to undertake a series of actions: (1) develop a guide to introduce the children’s rights approach in schools; (2) continue the research assessment initiated in the second agreement; and (3) identify the presence of children’s rights and global citizenship in the degree programmes for teaching credentials and social education at Spanish universities.

GENER@T. SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME FOR THE PREVENTION OF GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE IN ADOLESCENT COUPLES IN ADOLESCENT COUPLES: IMPLEMENTATION AND ASSESSMENT.

This project aims to implement and assess a programme aimed at the primary prevention of gender-based violence in adolescent couples, directed particularly at 12-14-year-olds, in anticipation of their first relationships. The programme is specifically designed for implementation in formal educational settings, although its features can be applied to non-formal educational settings. The programme is novel in its approach, based on the complementarity of risk and protective factors, as well as in its structure and assessment. Tools and strategies are offered to develop activities to prevent gender-based violence from a holistic perspective, based on both the cognitive dimension and the attitudinal-emotional and behavioural dimensions. The research project seeks to give voice to teenagers as well as to bring together science or scientific/academic knowledge with regard to preventing gender-based violence in adolescence with teachers’ professional practice.
